Detective is a simple envelope follower that can be used to turn audio signals into control voltage. It follows the audio input and averages the volume to produce a DC voltage, a little bit like a VU meter does.

But actually, try using it with any type of signal! The module outputs both an envelope and a gate output whenever the level of the input signal is high enough. The input signal sensitivity can be adjusted with a potentiometer.
